I am not a natural-born gardener. If I manage to get three marigolds to grow in a pot I am ecstatic. Thus, I was so pleased to discover the previous resident here had planted tulips beside steps outside the window where I write.

They flowered a week ago, all colors, but now are only green stems. Every single tulip but one has been beheaded.
