I agree with what you say, including the fact that at least with Trump we cannot deceive ourselves about the Republican party views. I’m a Democrat, life-long, and have no affinity with conservative policies. Not sure why my article made you think I am Republican, since it was about people (anywhere) who slavishly adopt an allegiance without inner reflection or awareness, and Republicans especially Trump followers, tend to do that. I lost friends in Nixon’s war. Democrats did, alas, support racist laws for a long time in the south, especially, but have been the only party from FDR onward to attempt to sustain an allegiance to people and life and ideals. My current favorite people in Congress are my own House Rep, Antonio Delgado, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. My hope is the Democratic Party uses the sense they were born with.
