My “Chat” with Artificial Intelligence ChatGPT Felt Like a Conversation with The Borg

The end of storytelling as we know it

I am blown away by how many nonfiction and fiction writers are welcoming and using the artificial intelligence program ChatGPT! So much so that I knew I had to investigate this thing. I have happily read science fiction all my life, but never dreamed I would find myself talking to a robot that created content for stories…

You give ChatGPT a description of what you want to write and who you want to read it — that elusive audience factor. The AI immediately spits out a response that gives you the story and a way to market it.

Some writers think that is pretty cool, enabling them to do months of work in mere hours. And people who want to publish a book but not necessarily spend time writing it have met nirvana in ChatGPT.

Three things are unnecessary — your own brain power, your own imagination, and overall quality. It also has to be said, too, that if you are co-authoring with a software interface, your creative ownership of the work is eminently and indubitably suspect.

Your co-author ChatGPT is not overly concerned with your opinions on the output. You could say your bot co-author is indifferent to how you feel. The objective is the end…
